“RIDE THAT PONY ” CONCERT -
Saturday, August 7, 7:30 pm - $8
Presenting the beauty and mystery of the
Southwest as seen by brilliant singer-songwriters Don & Victoria Armstrong.
Santa Fe residents, Don and Victoria play and sing cowboy songs, inspired
Mexican songs and evocative, sensitive originals in an ever-expanding repertoire
of
hauntingly beautiful compositions overlaid with stunning vocal harmonies. Don &
Victoria have written songs that were recorded by Judy Collins, John Denver,
Jerry Jeff Walker, Bill Staines, Bill & Bonnie Hearne and many more. David
Bromberg is recording Victoria's
"Lovin' Of The Game" on his new CD.

DAVID WEBER SPEAKS! - Sunday, August 8, 4-6 pm, FREE
Join historian and local resident David Weber as he presents an illustrated talk
on his latest publication about the SouthWest's colorful history. Fiasco: George
Clinton Gardner's Correspondence from the U.S.-Mexico Boundary Survey of
1849-1854.
One reviewer has written of the book: "Masterfully edited and annotated, these
personal letters of a young American surveyor paint a detailed and colorful
portrait of the men and women, Indians, Mexicans & Americans of the border
region at the moment of its making."

LINE DANCING EVENING - (with lessons) - Saturday, August 21, 7 pm - $3
Young or old - No partner required. Join us and learn some new line dances.
Bring a snack to share. Proceeds from this event will be used to purchase more
EMAAC recipe books.

“OPEN MIC” NIGHT - Saturday,
Sept. 11th - 7:00 pm- $5
Step into the spotlight.
Share your talent. Provide applause for your friends and neighbors. An evening
of (mostly) local poets, singers, dancers, storytellers, and ...who knows! If
you want to perform, please sign up at the Gallery and arrive early to check in
with the evening’s Emcee! Yummy refreshments always available!

TASTING PARTY & BRUNCH! - Sunday, Sept. 12th - 11 am, $5
We are gathering recipes to create a supplement to the EMAAC Recipe Book. Some
new recipes will be sampled at this event.

SHIRLEY VALENTINE – Encore Performance - Fri. & Sat - Sept 24 & 25, 7:30
pm - $10
Carlisle Ellis, an EMAAC favorite thespian, reprises her performance of “Shirley
Valentine, the
50-something housewife from Liverpool who talks to her kitchen walls. When she
gets the chance to spend a fortnight in Greece, she takes it, leaving kitchen
walls and husband behind. She finds, to her amazement, that she likes herself!
Join Carlisle in exploring this character created by Willy Russell.

SLOW KNITTING FOR BEGINNERS -
Sundays, Aug 8 - 29, 1:30 - 4 pm, FREE
Claire Knowles will lead these classes and experienced knitters will provide a
one-on-one learning situation. Each class introduces a useful project. Supplies
listed in each class description. Sign up at the Gallery (783-4710) so we have
the right number of experienced knitters. Call Claire (783-4900) with questions.
Aug. 8, 12:00 pm – 2:30 pm ( * Time
is different for this class). Learn to cast on, knit, increase, decrease, cast
off & other basics. Supplies: one ball of Sugar & Cream cotton yarn (at Hobby
Lobby, Michael’s, and Walmart), size 10 needles, scissors, size “G” or “H”
crochet hook.
Aug. 15, 1:30 - 4 pm
Learn to purl and practice basics. You will make a spa cloth. Same
supplies as first class.
Aug. 22, 1:30 - 4 pm Make a
scarf. Supplies: Approx. 4 oz. of wool or acrylic yarn and needles.
Aug. 29,, 1:30 - 4 pm Learn new
stitches and create a sampler. Supplies: 2 oz. of yarn.
Classes are FREE, but we encourage a generous donation to
the Old School Gallery.

BARGELLO QUILTING
CLASS - Sunday, September 19, 11 am –5 pm, $30
Rescheduled from August 1st.
Learn to make a breathtaking Bargello quilt that encourages you to
experiment with color, contrast and texture. Susan Ackerman will share how to
make this amazingly beautiful quilt. You can view her quilt, along with samples
at the Old School Gallery & the Ramah
Farmers’ Market. You need to know how to use a sewing machine and sew Ľ inch
straight seams. Space is limited. You will need to pay for the class to receive
your supply list and have enough time to gather your supplies and prepare for
the class. A coupon for a discount on fabric at Gallup Service Mart will be
provided with the supply list.

FELTING WORKSHOP - Sunday, Sept. 26 - 1:30 to 4 PM, $25
We will explore creating images with loose fibers and then in contrast, images
with prefelts. Time allowing, we can make a bowl. Materials provided. Children

Come see the beautiful flower and vegetable gardens of Ramah! Come
see gardens you’ve never seen before! Both tours will assemble at
the Ramah Farmers' Market site at 2:00 pm right after the Saturday market. $5.00
per person. Bring something to drink and a snack, sunscreen, and a hat. We will
be car pooling to the garden sites. For more information or if you would like

MUSIC BENEATH THE MESA CONCERT

Every summer Inscription Rock Trading & Coffee
Co. hosts some of the finest music you'll find anywhere in the world. Bond Mesa
provides the backdrop for the stage on the outdoor patio. Guests are served
delicious desserts and coffee before the performance. It's an evening of
enchantment under the mesa.
