Pastels

Zuni Mountains, NM

My pastel landscapes are primarily of the Zuni Mountains in west central
New Mexico, where I have lived for the past 32 years, along with any other
places I manage to get to.

For many years I painted abstracted oils, and occasionally colored pencils,
of ideas arising from and interest in Relativity and Quantum Theories. These
led to images in a similar style, of Anasazi ruins. It was an "analytical mind"
           period.

A few years ago, I briefly stopped painting (and possibly thinking.)  When
the fog cleared, I found myself pastel in hand, confronting the view before
me. Painting the landscape is an exercise inbeing here now. Where once
I painted about what I believed, I now paint as a meditation into what IS.
